Music Monday: Obsession 30

In my attempt to be more focused on this blog, I have decided to do some daily blogging. So brace yourself as the *blogging intensifies*.

It is very hard to find an single album where you can play through all the tracks and not feel the need to skip one. It is even harder to find an album like this, that you can replay over and over again for 4 weeks straight. This for me has only happened twice before once with the Taylor Swift 1989 album and second with the Melanie Martinez album Cry Baby.

I was looking for a new album to listen to as I have been on quite a few train journeys lately and I was becoming bored with my current spotify playlist. This is when I found, from a friends recommendation, twenty one pilots. Their music is not what I expected and I fell in love with blurry face almost instantly. I have had it on repeat for my journeys too work, whilst internet browsing and my train journeys now for 2 weeks and I still love every song. They are so unique and their sound is great, and I am genuinely disappointed that I didn’t experience them sooner. My favourite songs personally are The Judge and Stressed Out. I have bought concert tickets and downloaded their earlier albums. Now I just need to tumblr the members and I will be official Twenty One Pilots Trash.

The Grammys Top Five

I have finally managed to catch up on all things Grammy related and the fashion on the red carpet was just off the level this year. I have compiled my top 5 lady looks from the 57th Grammy Awards night.

I will start with Anna Kendrick. She looks absolutely phenomenal, I am so jealous, I could never pull off this outfit. It stands out from the usual dresses that are worn but is still so beautiful in its own right.

Next up is Ariana Grande. What I love most is that you have really seen her grow into her style particularly over the last year. This dress is so beautiful and elegant. The white and the silver is breathtaking and paired with her signature high pony she just looked the best I have ever seen her on the red carpet.

My next favourite is Miley Cyrus. This Black dress is so sophisticated and simple yet the cutouts and neckline keeps to her edgy style. I have always stuck up for the Miley transformation as she grew up and now she just looks like a beautiful young woman who is happy in her skin, which is a great inspiration

Sia and Maddie were the most stand out and they were absolutely awesome together on the red carpet. They are paired together now like peanut butter and Jelly and rightly so, their collaborations are off the charts and this red carpet look was no different. Sporting an emphasis on the signature blonde wig to keep Sia hidden from the camera and an outfit that looked amazing on both ladies they really blew me away. Plus don’t even get me started on that performance with Kristen Wiig as well, they really stole the night.

57th GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Finally Taylor Swift. This is my top look of the night. That dress is just…. WOW and the shoes are probably on the dream wishlist of a lot of girls right now. The whole look was pulled together perfectly and she was just radiating beauty on that red carpet. This is my favourite dress of the night and I can only dream that I will one day have an event to attend where I can where a dress like this.

Obsession 23: 1989

So I understand I am very late with this, like 2 weeks late, but I still feel the need to share. Taylor Swift released her fifth album and it is not only better than all of her other ones but, personally I believe, it is better than anyone’s album this year, or even ever. Being a student I am very reluctant to buy anything that is not a necessity for living. However last week I found my self spending £12 on the deluxe version of 1989 on iTunes, and honestly I have not regretted it at all.

I had found an uploaded version of the complete version on youtube as very often I never like the entire track list on one album so I wanted to make sure I like enough of them to justify spending the money. I replayed it 3 times in a row, would have been more but youtube took the video down, and after that I knew that, even if she hadn’t taken it off of spotify, I needed to buy this album.

The songs are so original and differ greatly not only from her past releases but from the very generic music the charts seem to hold at the moment. The marketing surrounding the release was genius and I think it is really refreshing to see her relationship with her fans grow so much that she is now comfortable to invite them around to her house. I always love to see a celebrity interact with their fan bases and really appreciate what they can do for them and therefore give something in return.

My favourites songs this week are how you get the girl, wonderland and blank space but I can honestly say there is not one song on this album I would skip past.
