Obsession 23: 1989

So I understand I am very late with this, like 2 weeks late, but I still feel the need to share. Taylor Swift released her fifth album and it is not only better than all of her other ones but, personally I believe, it is better than anyone’s album this year, or even ever. Being a student I am very reluctant to buy anything that is not a necessity for living. However last week I found my self spending £12 on the deluxe version of 1989 on iTunes, and honestly I have not regretted it at all.

I had found an uploaded version of the complete version on youtube as very often I never like the entire track list on one album so I wanted to make sure I like enough of them to justify spending the money. I replayed it 3 times in a row, would have been more but youtube took the video down, and after that I knew that, even if she hadn’t taken it off of spotify, I needed to buy this album.

The songs are so original and differ greatly not only from her past releases but from the very generic music the charts seem to hold at the moment. The marketing surrounding the release was genius and I think it is really refreshing to see her relationship with her fans grow so much that she is now comfortable to invite them around to her house. I always love to see a celebrity interact with their fan bases and really appreciate what they can do for them and therefore give something in return.

My favourites songs this week are how you get the girl, wonderland and blank space but I can honestly say there is not one song on this album I would skip past.
